From POP to ART
Roman Reznitsky (born 1978) is a contemporary Moscow artist. He graduated from the Moscow Higher Academic School of Graphic Design and from Architecture Department of the Novgorod State University. Despite the high artistic education Roman began his creative work quite lately. As recently as a year ago he set up his own expressive style. His outstanding, easily recognized manner is very popular not only in Russia but abroad too (Israel, USA).
Roman makes his artworks on the verge of painting, graphics and design. Massive strokes of thick acrylic paint make a relief on canvas. Decorative shapes are drawn with clear-cut lines. Silhouettes and color contrasts evoke optical illusions. Roman’s paintings are full of ironical erotism which bears a strong resemblance to pop-art samples and translates them into modern language of smartphones and social networks. It is not accidental that the most favorite Reznitsky’s artist is Roy Lichtenstein.
